Current Projects

Below are the projects that members are currently involved in during 2024.

Anti Racism part 2

This is a continuation of work that began last year. Barnwood Trust is on a learning journey to becoming anti-racist so that we fully include all disabled people and people with mental health conditions. A diverse and people-focused membership, with everyone being welcomed, listened to and treated fairly, will lead to better and more creative work together.

Please see the attached documents to see person specification and a project brief.

Speak to Izzy for application details – Deadline is the 18th of December.

Contact details for Izzy are 07541692216 or izzy.hawkins@barnwoodtrust.org

Upcoming projects for 2025

More information on when these projects will be available for application to follow.

Empowered Employers

We’ve been working with a small group of employers, who earlier this year developed action plans to make their recruitment processes and workplaces more inclusive and accessible. Next year the members involved in this work will be invited back to see how the employers have put those plans into practice.

Accessing Money Advice Research

We will be working with Barnwood’s Insights team to build on their research into accessing money advice. This project will help us:

  • Learn more about barriers
  • Learn more about what good, accessible advice looks like from EbLE and professional viewpoints
  • Begin to co-design our research and gain insights into asking the right people the right questions in the right way

Accessibility Fund

Earlier this year, a group of members helped develop the criteria against which applications to this fund will be scored. Members will be invited be part of the process of awarding grants by joining a group which will score applications to the fund.

Access to Nature (part 2)

Having worked with a number of partner organisations which run sites around the county, the next phase of this project will be looking at helping to make local green spaces more accessible and inclusive.

Annual Member Event
This is a gathering to share and celebrate what has been achieved by members and look ahead to what’s coming up. We want members to be at the heart of planning – it’s your event!

Previous Projects

Below are the projects that members have been involved in during 2024.

Accessibility Fund

This project will continue the work on accessibility started at meetups in 2023. It will be to co-design parameters for a new accessibility fund.

Kindly go through the attachments to find out more about the project and how you can apply. The attachments are in two formats. We have also sent emails to members; however, if you would like to receive this in a different format, please let us know by emailing us at talktous@barnwoodtrust.org or call, text or WhatsApp Wey on 07519 325601

Anti-racist Engagement

We want to make our work as inclusive and accessible as possible. This project will involve members from minority ethnic groups to explore how we can make our practice more inclusive, and to see if we are unintentionally excluding anyone.

Empowered Employees

This is the next phase of a project in which some Barnwood Circle members were involved in 2023. Eight employers in the county have developed action plans to make their workplaces and recruitment processes more accessible. This project will see Barnwood Circle members reviewing those action plans and giving feedback to the employers.

A group of Experts by Lived Experience have already been recruited for this work and we look forward to sharing details of the project soon.

Annual Members Event

This is an opportunity for members of Barnwood Circle to come together to listen, learn and celebrate achievements.

A group of Experts by Lived Experience have already been recruited for this work. They would be working with the engagement team to make the event welcoming. Inclusive and engaging, and that members leave the event feeling valued and that they are contributing to the work of Barnwood Trust.

Together with Barnwood

We are involving Barnwood Circle members in designing and delivering Barnwood Trust’s Annual Public Meeting.  This will help to make it as accessible and inclusive as possible.

A group of Experts by Lived Experience have already been recruited for this work. Look out for your invite to this event in September.
