Why do I want to be a Barnwood Trustee?Siobhan Farmer

I passionately believe that as a developed country the inequalities we see in life expectancy and health outcomes between specific groups in our population can be challenged and the gap reduced.  Only through recognising the unique and valuable contribution of all individuals regardless of background can this be achieved.  Barnwood Trust has an impressive track record of working to improve opportunity, inclusion and recognising the rights of people with disabilities and mental health conditions and I wanted to get involved to support the Trust in its goals.

What experience do I bring to the Trust?

As the Director of Public Health for the county, I bring an understanding of the statutory sector and its partners across the system that can help to improve opportunities for people living with disabilities and mental health conditions.  I am a trained consultant in public health and understand epidemiology, policy frameworks and have experience of influencing at a senior level; I hope to use these skills in my work with Barnwood.
