Purpose of the exercise: To help identify areas of under representation on the Board.
We are asking all Trustees to submit their personal details to enable us to understand the composition of our current Board and to help identify areas of under representation. The questions are designed to consider all protected characteristics.
Where possible we have used standard terms, for example, the ethnicity categories match those from the UK Census 2021. Where areas are more difficult to measure, such as socioeconomic diversity, we have chosen questions and options that align with to best practice recommendations. For example, our ‘secondary school type’ and ‘parental occupation’ questions are modelled on those outlined by the Social Mobility Commission.
Your disclosure is entirely voluntary and even if you select ‘prefer not to say’ on some questions, your contribution will be helping us to build an inclusive picture.
Data Statement
The information you share with includes Special Category data. It will be kept strictly confidential, stored securely and will only be accessible to a limited number of authorised Barnwood staff. It will never be used in a way that identified you personally and will only be used for analysing diversity of the Board. Aggregated, anonymised information on the diversity of the Board will be made available internally to support a wider discussion about the kinds of diversity that are important to the Board. We will also share the aggregated, anonymised results publicly, as part of our commitment to transparency on DEI. The data you have provided will be destroyed when you step down as a Trustee at Barnwood.
