Chris Bellamy
Connector
My job is to connect with disabled people and people with mental health conditions. I bring people who are passionate to help drive change in Gloucestershire into Barnwood Circle and our engagement activities.

What brings me here?
My mum was a SEN teacher and through her I first became aware of disability and found my curiosity for people and their unique experiences of the world. I have a background in counselling and mental health support. I have always been interested in people and their stories, and I have naturally found my interests and skills moving me towards roles which are trying to create positive social change through collaboration and powerful narratives.
I am really pleased to be a part of Barnwood Trust because the values here align with my own. This means that I find the work I am involved in to be purposeful, and I appreciate working in an organisation that welcomes people as their whole self.
What do I enjoy spending time doing for my own wellbeing?
I’ve got three wonderful kids and I take a lot of enjoyment from spending time with them. Being a dad brings a lot of meaning to my life.
I enjoy watching team sports, with Ice Hockey being my main passion. I’ve recently started playing mixed netball and have also found a love for running. Being sat in the sun at a festival brings me joy. I love finding new music. I’m partial to a podcast. I try to read non-fiction as often as I can. And I really like cooking and sharing a meal, but if I had more money I think I would go out to restaurants more often.
